In AGORO, Sackey started as a Freestyle dancer but later trained in Traditional African Traditional and Afro-Contemporary dance. He drew upon these dance styles when he became the Assistant Artistic Director of Asanti Dance Theatre in 2004. With this company he trained Ghana’s newest talent and dancers from around the world as part of Asanti’s African education programme. Sackey has many performance credits to his name including residencies at the National Theatre and as lead drummer in The Cooking Pots, a popular 16-piece big band in Cape Coast.
In 2008 Sackey moved to London where he works as a freelance choreographer, performer and teacher. Among his many talents, Sackey is also a Dum Dum drum specialist, sculptor and painter. His art, in all its varied forms, is influenced by his homeland and passion for the continued education of African culture across the Diaspora.
