Fontlife is a site-specific piece using live music created by IRIE! dance theatre for the Eastern Fountain at Trafalgar Square – a celebration of the spirit of the water, Yemoja.

An exciting blend of movement, which focuses on undulation and pulsation, a technique prevalent in traditional and contemporary Caribbean dance. The use of Soca music evokes the vitality of a carnival atmosphere.

Don’t Test

This piece focuses on different challenges and trials that we all face throughout lives. The work deals with relationships and communication in an earnest and sometimes humorous way. Performed as a series of sketches, the work poses a number of questions such as:
At what point does a test become a challenge?
And the movement holds steadfast to IRIE!’s style of fusion and synthesising traditional African and Caribbean dance with Contemporary dance.

Rude Girls' Party 1995-96






In a special temple, located in a small village far away from the city, lives four women each endowed by special qualities after which they are named – Strength, Purpose, Pain and Passion. They are also the guardians of music. Their role is to protect music and stop it from being used to cause harm. Through Rude Girls’ Party you share their experiences as they endeavour to protect their gifts from being tainted by the cruel realities of life. And you journey with them as they experience anguish, madness, hope and joy.
