Special Youth Event at Moonshot Centre

Youth Event at Moonshot Centre

IRIE! in partnership with New Cross Assemblies, EqualiTeam Lewisham and The Young Mayor’s Office will be hosting a special Youth Event at the Moonshot Centre on Saturday 12 December 2015 from 12:00 noon – 4:00pm.

The aim of this event is to help young people to better deal with issues such as anti-social behavior and drug abuse.

There will be stalls providing information to young people on these topics plus health issues including sexual health. Information will also be available regarding volunteering and job opportunities for young people.

Workshops and talks will be provided by the Safer Neighborhood Teams, Stop and Search Team and Mental Health organisations.

However, this event is not just about educating young people on these serious issues. It also an opportunity for young people to be entertained by other young people and perhaps show off their skills and artistry.

So, to balance all “heavy” stuff, there there will be performances by A3 dance company, Midi Music and IRIE!’s Foundation Degree students. The Foundation Degree students will also deliver a workshop.

There will be break dancing, football sessions, DJ workshops, open mic and more.

The walls at Moonshot will exhibit art-work from local artists.

Lewisham’s Young Mayor will be supporting the event on the day.

FREE FOOD will be available! So do come along and take part in this special event and we’d really appreciate it if you’d help us to spread the word about the Youth Event.
