A collection of West African traditional dances and Caribbean folk dances, that represent social, ritual and religious rites. These dances are the foundation of the movement language and style of IRIE! dance theatre.
Each dance relays a journey or cultural shift in African and Caribbean history, thereby guarding the stories for us now and for those yet to come.
GROUNDATION communicates the nuances and storytelling traditions that are continually echoed in African and Caribbean culture.
The movement combined with live drumming, percussions and songs demonstrates the resilience, power and influence of the culture.
