GROUNDATION – dancing from the archives brings a collection of West African traditional dances and Jamaican folk dances, that represent social, ritual, and religious rites. These dances are the foundation of the movement language/style of IRIE! dance theatre.

About the event
After a successful nationwide tour of our new piece which kick started the Black History Month celebration in Lewisham Council, in the presence of The Deputy High Commissioner of the Jamaican High Commission, London, H.E. Mrs Patrice Laird-Grant and Cllr Brenda Dacres, Mayor of Lewisham, and other VIP guests, GROUNDATION comes home to the Moonshot Centre, the home of IRIE! dance theatre for two days.
For Artistic Director, Beverley Glean MBE, GROUNDATION – DANCING FROM THE ARCHIVES and the relaunch of the Performance Company is a seminal moment in her professional journey and represents another landmark in the four decades that she has been at the helm of this trailblazing company.
