Come and join the MA Diasporic Dance Styles for a series of Open Morning Classes, experience wonderful artists and explore the MA course. We are also very excited to be hosting ‘Marimbea’ a traditional Colombian Company currently on tour to London, who will also be teaching an additional workshop.
Experience the cultural richness of the Afro-Colombian communities of the Pacific through a traditional dance workshop featuring Bunde and Bambuco Viejo. Bunde is a vibrant rhythm of praise with communal roots, while Bambuco Viejo tells a romantic story through elegant partner movements. Live music will accompany the session, allowing participants to connect deeply with the spirit and storytelling of each dance.
The workshop is led by three outstanding artists. Jessianber (Jessica Anchico) from Guapi brings her legacy as a marimbera, singer, and percussionist, passed down from her grandmother María Caicedo Aragón. Jaritza Narváez, a rising percussionist with Renacer del Pacífico, breaks…
